Saving a Few Dollars Each Month is Better Than Saving Zero Dollars
I had messed up my checkbook one day, as many people do from time to time, and I discovered something neat. I have been using a technique, without realizing it, to save money in the bank. Luckily, for me, my checkbook was showing that I had a little extra in the bank, so I decided to leave it that way.
I made myself an extra checkbook register online and printed it out. Now, I have two checkbooks. I have one that is accurate and one that is not accurate. Now, I will save money in the bank; a few extra dollars every month.
Whenever I purchase something, pay a bill or pay someone for something, I add extra to that amount when I write it is my checkbook that is not accurate. For example, if I go to Wal-Mart and buy items, I will pay $45.04 for those items. When I write the amount into my off-balanced checkbook, I will write that I paid $46.00 for those items. I saved money in the bank; $.94. Every time I shop, I save money in the bank now.
I actually do not care if my checkbook balances because with modern technology now, if I want to see actual amounts, I can go online and go to my bank account to see all the transactions, but for those that need to have a balanced checkbook, they can keep a separate one. If you do not want to bother going to the bank to get a checkbook register, you can find several free templates of them online and print your own out. They are normally 8 1/2′ x 11′ in size, like printer paper size, but you can shrink them down with any basic computer program, like Paint or Word.…
